What Game Developers have said about my work

As a coach and source of guidance to other developers,

I was able to get my game done roughly in 7 months. […] I have a wife, I have kids–little kids, I have a job, I run a YouTube channel, and I have a finished game. Something there does not add up, but it is the reality of it.

— Soul Engine Studios (Testimony Quote from Prepare The Past Developer)

[…] This consultation call was worth it.

— Sir Parsy (Consulation Call Quote from Ultrasomnia Developer)

That’s easy a super long and super helpful feedback, and I’m also gonna need a bit of time to respond to all of it, but honestly you’re by far the person who « gets » exactly where I’m trying to go with this game. I think you’ve described and dissected even better than I would have ahah

— Myst (Discord Response from RougeJack21 Developer)

Hey Edward, thanks again for the recording and every other YouTube video and meeting you did for me. I have learnt a lot during the whole process, best consulting experience ever!

— Jesse Li (Email Response from MeowU Island Developer)

Thank you very much Edward! I very much valued your consultation and getting to chat with you. I’m looking forward to doing it again in the future when I have more to show. I wanted to point out that you were on the money with your Probability of Engagement score! You calculated a 26.15 and funny enough, my current Itch.io browser plays to views is 116/545 = 21.2% so you’re uncannily accurate! Lastly, I wanted to answer your question about what was particularly insightful during our conversation: I really liked your proposal of using the Left Stick to Move the character and Right Stick to move the platform. You were very good at respecting what I have built while simultaneously pointing out the issues with tilt’n’tumble and offering alternative solutions!

— Laurence Lok (Email Response from Foodgitives Developer)

Thanks to Fast Forward My Game, I’ve been able to meet deadlines, to meet some guidelines in order for me to become a better writer, fix scenes that I’ve been creating, that I’ve been documenting, and overall it has been a postivie experience.

— Punpunartz (Testimony Quote from A Monster’s Heart Developer)

Because I now know exactly what I want, it really has felt black and white on just making progress. It’s just kinda wild how in 90 days we’ve made completely new games.

— Peter (x3 90-Day Dev Consultation Call Quote from Dead Drop Developer)

I knew that you knew your stuff, and I knew that I would need a coach like you to help me get through this next plateau […] I really appreciate all the guidance and support you’ve given me since we started chatting & your video today is a great example of how much good you’re putting out onto the Indie scene.

— Connor (Consultation Call Quote & Discord Response from Sunday Brunch Studios)

So i just finished the video and it was so insightful! I agree on a lot of the things that you mentioned in the video. […]

— Mike Harris (Email Response from Megacremental Developer)

yeah needed the top of the head thing lul reason why ig was rather than centralizing on one genre i just took a single component of a bunch of genres that seemed cool lul surprised though you literally got the MOST clear and straightforward answer immediately

— Hano (Discord Message from ShatterFarms Developer)

Edward, thank you for the great session. It was thought-provoking and seeing this summary written out like this third person is really helpful. I’m already weighing some game ideas I want to get started on, and have been working on structuring my new life in the city so I can form a routine and slowly incorporate gamedev as a consistent part of my life. Thank you again. I’ll be in touch!

— Yotam Frid (Email Response from Infiniroom Developer)

Sounds great, thanks Edward! I have some good direction and have been super motivated. The roadmap helped greatly with that.

— SoDev (Email Response from Cirque De Slay Developer)

Wow, thank you for such an extensive response! This is some really great stuff, I’ve been able to break out of my creative slump. I really like the discussion about Appeal and Engagement and it’s helping me to look at my mechanics in a different light. I’ve also started filling out that game mechanics spreadsheet of yours and have been able to actually brainstorm some interesting concepts. It’s still not easy thinking of opposition or polarity in a puzzle game context, but I think I’m getting the hang of it. You’ve given me a lot to think about and I want to get prototyping soon. I’ll definitely update you on how things go and if I have any follow up questions. Thanks again! Caleb

— Caleb Hyun (Email Response from Project Light Developer)

Dude… You made my night. Here I was thinking, you might not even respond. Thanks a lot for your detailed response along with your feelings and experience going through something like this. You’re right, I have made nothing as of now to tell the world that I am a game dev. So I’ll start building something slowly on the side. Again, thank you for the incredible response. Let’s both keep developing! 🛡️

— Garry Eraly (Linkedin Response)

tysm for this ! we having a meeting ab all the feedback we’ve gotten and ur stuff aligns with what a lot of people told us so ikma use this as a guide

— gabriela(d1gitalrabbit) (Discord Message from Toad Tavern Developer)

damn I so flattered, very glad that its getting a positive reaction i did not think of examining it through BW values so this is pretty cool technique to visualize contrast. It does bother me slightly when looking at this that the effects might be too distracting/messy, but perhaps moving that long splatter piece on the top left could do it some good. Also will do something to clean up the area with the title so no other elements are clashing.

— Sugarcow (Discord Response from Leathal Wish Developer)

[…] I have a lot to improve I don’t mind at all! Like to increase my Fiverr prices blows my mind but I do trust it, for testimonies that idea sounds great, thank you.

— Happy Monsters Dev (Discord Response from Snake Mayham Developer)

Thank you so much it means so much the feedback is mad encouraging!!! I’m passionate to make this idea I kinda hated at first into something I not only love but also something cool and exciting for others and something that players actually wanna have fun with!
